Last night the 2nd semi-final in this years Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Russin capital Moscow. 19 songs performed in this semi-final with the top 10 advancing through to Saturday’s live final. The contest opened with a band of 4 musicians with Russian stringed instruments playing some of the most famous songs in Eurovision history. They included Dana International’s “Diva” and last years winning songs “Believe” by Dimar Bilan. The 2 presenters were, as usual, so over-the-top it was funny just to watch them. The 2 favourites, Norway & Greece qualified but had to wait until the end before the result was announced. I’m a bit disappointed that Ireland & Cyprus didn’t qualify but am ecstatic that Denmark did. And why on earth did Croatia, Lithuania & Moldova qualify? It’s typical Eurovision Block-Voting lol. Here is who qualified in the order the countries were announced.
Azerbaijan
Croatia
Ukraine
Lithuania
Albania
Moldova
Denmark
Estonia
Norway
Greece
After the semi-final finished a draw took place to determine which position the 10 new finalist would perform in the live final and they are as follows:
Azerbaijan will sing 11th
Croatia will sing 5th
Ukraine will sing 21st
Lithuania will sing 1st
Albania will sing 19th
Moldova will sing 13th
Denmark will sing 16th
Estonia will sing 15th
Norway will sing 20th
Greece will sing 8th
So all 25 countries, who will sing in the 54th Eurovision Song Contest final have been announced. In my next post I will put the full running order.
Good Luck to Jade Ewen who is singing the UK’s entry “It’s My Time”. I’m sure you will do exceptionally well xx
