Eurovision: Czech’s Pull Out

It was announced yesterday that the Czech Republic will withdraw from all future Eurovision Song Contests due to their poor results and a lack of interest from their audience in the contest.

They first entered the contest in 2007 with Kabat singing “Mala Dama” and finished last in the semi-final with only 1 point, which was awarded to them from Estonia.

In 2008 they were represented by Tereza Kerndlova with her Europop song “Have Some Fun”.  They participated in the 2nd semi-final and finished 18th with a total of 9 points, which were awarded to them from Turkey, Croatia, Malta and F.Y.R. Macedonia.

At this year’s event they were represented by Gipsy.cz and finished last in their semi-final, scoring the infamous “Nil Points” in the 2nd semi-final.

Next year’s contest will be held in the Norwegian capital Oslo after Alexander Rybak won this year’s contest with his folk song “Fairytale” with a record 387 points.
