Top 50 Greatest Music Videos

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Last night in the UK, Channel 4 unleashed a countdown of the Top 50 Greatest Music Videos as selected by Pop Industry Big Wigs, and then voted for by the public. The show was introduced by Girls Aloud’s Kimberly Walsh and culmulatively counted down the chart ending with a “No Shock Horror” result, in which Michael Jackson topped the poll.

Here is the complete list, do you think that some acts should have been placed higher? Do you think some music videos, which should have been included were left out? Tell me your thoughts!

– Michael Jackson – Thriller
– Britney Spears – Toxic
– Robbie Williams – Rock DJ
– Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity
– Beyonce – Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)
– Fatboy Slim – Weapon Of Choice
– Lady Gaga – Poker Face
– A-Ha – Take On Me
– Madonna – Vogue
– Madonna – Like A Prayer
– Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson – Scream
– Britney Spears – Hit Me Baby (One More Time)
– Aphex Twin – Windowlicker
– The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up
– Eminen (featuring Dido) – Stan
– Christina Aguilera – Dirrty
– Spice Girls – Wannabe
– Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head
– Blur – Coffee & TV
– Queen – I Want To Break Free

– Dire Straits – Money For Nothing
– Pulp – Common People
– Missy Elliott – Get Your Freak On
– Frankie Goes To Hollywood – Two Tribes
– Godley & Creme – Cry

Personally I think this list is pretty well balanced but I do think that some of the music videos that are in the lower regions, like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” should be placed higher than Britney Spear’s “Toxic”, but that’s my opinion. I would love to hear what you all think to this list.

If you want more information about the chart or want to read interviews on up and coming acts, then head on over to the 4 Music website.
