In 1992 BBC Radio 1 asked its millions and millions of listeners to vote for their favourite song since the station began broadcasting in 1967.
Then later that year, Simon Bates, Jakki Brambles, Johnny Walker & Lynne Parsons presented the Listeners Chart playing the Top 100 songs. It was a mammoth of a day with over 8 hours dedicated to this chart.
With the 4 presenters taking it in turns to present segments of the charts culminating with all 4 of them in the same studio to announce the Nation’s Top 10 together.
It was announced that approximately 15 million votes were cast for this chart and personally, I think if they had the chance to announce a Top 500, then it would have done that lol.
