I must say for the first time in i don’t know when and to my horror i actually enjoyed this years Eurovision Song Contest.
The quality of songs overall was much better and i would say the show was more slicker than of previous years and not so cheesy, for some unknown reason it didn’t seem such a long drawn out marathon like it usually does, the songs were performed one after the other with brief introductions before each of them maybe it was because of the surprisingly well staged interval entertainment to break up the marathon that kept the viewers and the vast audience interested and that they certainly did.
MADCON who famously covered the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons classic Beggin’ was brilliant performing The Worlds Largest Flash Mob – Eurovision 2010 – Time To Dance along with the audience and Continue Reading..

Today, the bosses at the Eurovision Song Contest have released the voting results from both semi-finals. It would appear that some of the favourite songs which should have gone through, missed out by just a few points.
This one is of the 1st Semi-Final

and this one is for the 2nd Semi-Final

Sometime during the week, they will also release the split voting for the viewers and the jury votes so make sure you pop back to see how the votes were compiled.

Last night saw the Grand Prix for the 55th Eurovision Song Contest live from the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway. It was probably on e of the best shows of recent years, cumulating with GERMANY winning the contest. There were so ups and downs, including a stage invasion during Spain’s song – and they were allowed to perform again after all songs had performed. Also every time Russia got any votes the arena booed, just like they did on Tuesday during the semi-final. Seems I’m not the only one who thinks its a depressing song (I did warn you to keep the razor blades away from your wrists).
Big surprises is that Ireland sung fantastically but ended up 23rd and poor old Josh Dubovie, singing was OK but the backing singers were soooooo out of tune, he never had a chance to win the contest. Even so he ended up 25th.
So here is the final result – make sure you come back during the week after the bosses at the ESC release the semi-final voting results and the split results from tonight’s show.
01 – GERMANY – 246 points
02 – Turkey – 170 points
03 – Romania – 162 points
04 – Denmark – 149 points
05 – Azerbaijan – 145 points
06 – Belgium – 143 points
07 – Armenia – 141 points
08 – Greece – 140 points
09 – Georgia – 136 points
10 – Ukraine – 108 points
11 – Russia – 90 points
12 – France – 82 points
13 – Serbia – 72 points
14 – Israel – 71 points
15 – Spain – 68 points
16 – Albania – 62 points
17 – Bosnia & Herzegovina – 51 points
18 – Portugal – 43 points
19 – Iceland – 41 points
20 – Norway – 35 points
21 – Cyprus – 27 points
22 – Moldova – 27 points
23 – Ireland – 25 points
24 – Belarus – 18 points
25 – United Kingdom – 10 points

Eurovision, Eurovision 2010
Well after Tuesday’s & Thursday’s semi-finals, the 25 songs competing in this years contest has finally been announced. There were some shock exits from the competition, and there were even boos from the arena when Russia were announced as finalist – not sure though which countries were responsible for the boos and to be honest, the song is a depressing song – when you hear it on Saturday please make sure you keep the razor blades well away from your wrists.
So the final is shaping up to be one of the best in recent years, with a mixture of ballads, europop, rock and traditional music, its anybody’s guess on who is going to win.
I predict that Azerbaijan will win it, with either Germany or Denmark coming in second place. It’s also a welcome return to the “Kings” of Eurovision – Ireland made it to the final with a former winner, Niamh Kavanagh trying for glory for a 2nd time.
Well here is the list of the 25 countries and the position in which they will be performing on Saturday’s final.
01 – Azerbaijan
02 – Spain
03 – Norway
04 – Moldova
05 – Cyprus
06 – Bosnia & Herzegovina
07 – Belgium
08 – Serbia
09 – Belarus
10 – Ireland
11 – Greece
12 – United Kingdom
13 – Georgia
14 – Turkey
15 – Albania
16 – Iceland
17 – Ukraine
18 – France
19 – Romania
20 – Russia
21 – Armenia
22 – Germany
23 – Portugal
24 – Israel
25 – Denmark
So, place your bets on who you think will win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
28.05.2010
Eurovision, Eurovision 2010
Last night saw the 2nd (and in my personal opinion) the better of the two semi-finals where the last 17 countries bying to reach Saturday’s final took place. All the sounds sounded like they should all reach the final, but as you Eurovision fans know – only 10 could joing the other 15 songs to Saturday’s final.
Here is who qualified in the order that they were announce.
01 – Georgia
02 – Ukraine
03 – Turkey
04 – Israel
05 – Ireland
06 – Cyprus
07 – Azerbaijan
08 – Romania
09 – Armenia
10 – Denmark
SHOCK – No Sweden, No Netherlands, No Croatia – all were favourites to reach the final.
Straight after the show, the draw to see where these finalist would perform, also took place and here is where they are singing:
Georgia go 13th
Ukraine go 17th
Turkey go 14th
Israel go 24th
Ireland go 10th
Cyprus go 5th
Azerbaijan go 1st
Romania go 19th
Armenia go 21st
Denmark go 25th
Now as you all know, if not you will by the end of this post, that the voting has yet again changed. Still in play is last year’s 50% televote and 50% jury vote but the BIG difference is that the phone lines to vote for your favourite song, will be opened at the START of the show. So you haven’t got to wait for all participants to perform, before you cast your vote. Excellent news if you love the Azerbaijani song (which I do) and not such good news if you like the Danish song (which I also love). The reason for me saying this is because if you haven’t heard any of the songs, then the earlier the song is performed, then the likelyhood of them receiving more votes than the songs which perform later.
If you want to keep up to date with all the happenings of what is going on in Oslo, then you can check out the official Eurovision.tv website for the news and gossip.
