Earlier today, the 12 hopefuls nominated for this years Mercury Music Prize were announced. La Roux, Kasabian and BRIT Award winners Florence & The Machine feature in the shortlist.
The awards ceremony takes place on September 8th where the winner will be announced and will take home the £20,000 prize.
Today another milestone in the UK Chart History took place when the 1100th Number One song was announced. David Guetta & Kelly Rowland hit the top of the chart with the dance anthem “When Love Takes Over”.
So last night on ITV1 the 2009 BRIT Awards ceremony took place. It was the 29th edition of the annual awards ceremony and was held at Earls Court, London and presented by Matthew Horne, James Corden and Kylie Minogue.
